No to Justin Trudeau

During his campaign, Justin Trudeau promised to end first-past-the-post elections in Canada. On February 1, 2017, the Liberal Party of Canada announced that they would be abandoning this promise. In response, I invite you to join me in registering my displeasure with the Liberal Party and with Mr. Trudeau. This is not a petition, but a request to make a simple commitment:

This will be the last first-past-the-post election in which I vote for Justin Trudeau.

A broken promise

If you are like me, you supported Justin Trudeau in this past election on the back of this clear position:

We are committed to ensuring that 2015 will be the last federal election conducted under the first-past-the-post voting system. Liberal Platform, 2015

I, like millions of Canadians, believe that enacting proportional representation should be a priority for this country. Proportional representation would give all Canadians more say in how the country is be governed, and more effectively align the incentives of politicians with those of their constituents.

I backed Justin Trudeau for this policy alone, and he has let all of us down.
